Ellie Manners

Crafting the chaos & calm

At the moment, I'm enjoying exploring refined, curved and altered forms in my ceramics. Like many, I'm inspired by what I see around me, here in Aotearoa New Zealand - so you'll see a lot of lush greens, textured browns and cloudy skies in my pieces.

I'm always down for a classic Kiwi road trip, because watching our incredible mountains, bushes and valleys pass quietly by always takes me to a place of calm inspiration and awe. I hope I've captured some of this in my ceramics - and that you feel similarly with one in your home.

Ceramics is just one of my creative pursuits - after studying a Bachelor's of Visual Communication Design in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, I've put my degree to good use working as a design researcher and freelance graphic designer.

In addition to ceramics and design, I dabble in oil painting and have developed a passion for traditional print media. I have completed various letterpress and printmaking courses, and I also enjoy teaching myself to hand-bind books (seven so far!).

If you've got an idea or project you'd like my help with, or haven't been able to find the piece that's perfect for you - reach out and let's chat!
